The CM Green Tractor Scheme (GTS) is an important government program. It was started by the Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The main goal is to help small and medium-sized farmers. It does this by giving them modern tractors. These tractors are heavily subsidized. This helps farmers with their work. It aims to make farming more modern. This will increase agricultural production. It will also lower costs for farmers. The scheme is a step towards better food security in Punjab.
The Application and Selection Process
The application process for this scheme is fully online. This makes it fair and transparent. There is a system called e-balloting. This is a lottery system. It is used to select the farmers who will get a tractor. This ensures that the selection is based on luck, not on connections. The government wants to make sure the program is honest. This helps all eligible farmers have a fair chance. The goal is to distribute 9,500 tractors in Phase 3. The total goal is 20,000 tractors across Punjab. The lottery for this phase started on September 18, 2025.
Who Can Apply for the Scheme?
There are specific rules for who can apply. You must be a permanent resident of Punjab. You must also own your own agricultural land. This shows you are a genuine farmer. You must have a valid CNIC. This proves your identity. Another important rule is that you must not have received a subsidized tractor before. This prevents the same person from getting help twice. This helps more farmers benefit from the scheme. There is also a minimum landholding rule. You must own at least 7 acres of land to get a large tractor.
Subsidies and Tractor Details
The scheme provides a significant subsidy. This helps make the tractors affordable. The subsidy can be as high as PKR 1,000,000. The program offers different types of tractors. They are categorized by horsepower (HP). There are tractors for small farms and for large farms. This makes the scheme useful for different kinds of farmers. Once selected, farmers will be notified. They can check online or at their local government offices. After they are notified, they must contact the Assistant Director of Agriculture. This is the final step to claim their new tractor.
