How Does the Program Work?

- Model 1: Free plots for homeless families: The most deprived sector of families in the province that do not even legally own a parcel of land, are receiving free residential plots. During this first phase, almost 2,000 plots of 3-marla each will be given to families across 23 housing schemes located in 19 different districts. The only opportunity and first major step that landless families must take toward building homes are now credited to the government. The government is focusing on the most deserving and needy classes of society like widows, orphans, disabled and labour.
- Model 2: Interest free loans for construction: This model is aimed at the low income families that own a small plot of land but do not have the monetary access to build a home. An interest free loan of up to PKR 1.5 million and a repayment term of over the course of 7 years, with a grace period of three-months for repayment until after an installment is imposed. This model could serve to help thousands of families that are one step away from a relatively permanent home.
- Model 3: Subsidised Housing: If you do not have land, the government is also offering some completed units for occupancy. Collaboration with private developers is involved to create affordable housing units for this project. The government provides a significant housing development cost subsidy. - Step 1: Determining eligibility. Make sure you are eligible before applying, as this program is only meant for permanent residents of Punjab that do not already own any property in Pakistan, families making less than PKR 50,000 per month, and whose Poverty Means Test (PMT) score in the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) is below 60%. You also must not have any criminal record or loan default information against you.

Once your application has been submitted, there will be a fair, objective ballot to identify the recipients. The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) will verify documentation and authenticity to ensure that the plots and loans go to the most deserving families.
